The Staff Selection Commission will hold an Open Competitive Computer Based Examination for direct recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’, Non- Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’) in various Ministries/Departments/ Organizations including their Attached offices, Subordinate offices and Statutory bodies of the Government of India located in various States and Union Territories.

Selection Process
Computer Based Examination
The details of the Computer Based Examination are mentioned below:

Question paper will be of Objective Type Multiple Choice only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi.
There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Computer Based Examination. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
Based on the marks scored in the Computer Based Examination, candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in the Skill Test(s) for the post(s) they have applied for.
Skill Test in Stenography
The candidates who are shortlisted in the Computer Based Examination will be required to appear in the Skill Test for Stenography. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as opted by the candidates in the online Application Form) at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer. The transcription time is as follows:

The Skill Test will be held at the Commission’s Regional Offices or at other Centre(s) as may be decided by the Commission.
Skill Test is mandatory but qualifying in nature.
Minimum qualifying marks in Computer Based Examination, are as follows:

Application Fees
Fee payable is Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only).
Fee can be paid online only through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, Master, Maestro Card, or by RuPay Credit or Debit Card.
The women candidates and the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and the Ex-Servicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of fee.
Online fee can be paid by the candidates up to 27.06.2025 (Up to 2300 Hrs.).
The Commission will levy a uniform charge of ₹ 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) for making
correction and re-submitting the modified/corrected application for the first time, and thereafter,
₹500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) for making the correction and re-submitting the modified/
corrected application for the second time.

Applications must be submitted only in online mode at the new website of SSC Headquarter i.e. https://ssc.gov.in or through my SSC mobile application (which can be downloaded from Google Play Store).
The Last date for submission of online applications is 26-06-2025 (Up to 2300 Hrs.)
